Comedian Jerry Seinfeld To Wed

NEW YORK (AP) - Jerry Seinfeld, television's consummate sitcom bachelor for nine years, is taking the real-life plunge with a woman who dumped her new husband for him.

The comedian reportedly popped the question to Jessica Sklar last weekend during a romantic dinner out.

Seinfield spokeswoman Elizabeth Clark would only confirm Tuesday that the two are engaged and ``very happy.''

Sklar, who works for a public relations firm, hooked up with Seinfeld in August 1998, soon after returning from her three-week honeymoon in Italy with Eric Nederlander, a Broadway producer. Nederlander filed for divorce in October 1998.

``I've moved on,'' Nederlander told ``Inside Edition.'' ``Things are great with me. She's his problem now.''

The New York tabloids chronicled the relationship between Seinfeld, 45, and Sklar, 28. Seinfeld's proposal made front-page news in the New York Post and the Daily News.

On ``Seinfeld,'' the comedian dated an endless parade of women, inevitably finding some strange way to drive them off.

While TV Jerry preferred the company of pals George Costanza and Cosmo Kramer, the real-life Jerry had a six-year relationship with college student-turned-fashion designer Shoshanna Lonstein. They broke up in 1997.

I find it a little amusing that Jerry and Jessica Sklar have the same initials. Remember the episode when Janeene Gerofalo (I know the spelling's wrong) played Jerry's girlfriend?

I think it's pretty obvious that the mistake marriage was the one she just ended, not the one she's embarking on now. If she was already looking to fool around as soon as she returned from the honeymoon, I'm guessing that the trip to Italy was the only reason she married Nederlander in the first place. And judging from the way he pissed and moaned to the press about it, I'd say she made the right choice. I just hope *he* makes the right choice and opts for a prenuptual agreement. It would suck if she's only after that quarter billion of his.

And not just plain loaded. They're NY-loaded. Hence her vanity "job" at Hilfiger.

In an interesting twist, Ben Stiller (who, of course, is the son of "Frank Costanza") is now engaged to Christine Taylor, who played Jerry's girlfreind Ellen in "The Van Buren Boys" (as well as Marcia Brady in the BB movies).

I'm dissappointed. If Sklar was willing to leave jer husband so fast for Jerry, I think she's a gold digger. And, I've seen a picture of her. She looks kinda like Monica Lewinsky. But, considering the age difference, I can safely say Jerry likes the young ones. Well, at least this girl is over 18.
