Jerry's Last Name

We all know it's George Costanza, Elaine Benes, and well, Kramer. But has Jerry's last name ever been mentioned on the show? Does he go by Seinfeld? If so, why does he get his real name, while everyone else is a character?

     He plays himself on the show.  And he has been mentioned by name on
     many occasions, as well as his parents (George calls his mother Mrs.
     Seinfeld, etc.)...

     It's supposed to be somewhat autobiographical -- Elaine and George are
     supposedly based on real-life friends of Jerry Seinfeld (for the record,
     Carol Leifer and Larry David, from what I understand).

     So why aren't they "Carol" and "Larry" in the show?  Hollywood ego, I
     imagine... plus, making them more abstract gives the writers a little
     more flexibility with the characters.

Of course Jerry's last name is Seinfeld. There has been several references made to that name on several episodes. Unlike his co-stars he keeps his real name because he isn't really acting. Jerry in real life is very similar if not exact to his chacter on the show. I think it was on a Baba Wawa interview that Jerry admitted (although it could have beeen a joke) that he just can't act. He is who he potrays on the show (if not similar). This is just a suggestion. Katherine

Way to go dumbass! We can tell you watch the show alot. It's a show about a comedian named Jerry Seinfeld. He plays himself of course. They say his last name all the time. Even this week Courtney Cox played Mrs. Seinfeld. Since you're such a genius, maybee you can answer this question for me. Do they ever mention what Cliff Claven's job is on Cheers?

Yeah, he goes by his real name, Jerry Seinfeld in the show... that's been said time and time again, and if you watched this past week's episode (the one with Courtney Cox), she (Meryl) went by Meryl Seinfeld when she pretended to be Jerry's wife.

Another good example was from The Boyfriend episode, where George and Jerry are in the locker room and they see Keith Hernandez and George says, "He's Keith Hernandez... you're Jerry Seinfeld!" in a hilariously insulting fashion.

Hey Kyle, How come you can't give the guy a break? He asks a simple question about something he doesn't know... what gives you the right to go ballistic on him? Your post is the first negative post I've seen in response to this question. There is nothing that says you have to be a Seinfeld expert to participate in this group. If you're not going to be helpful to another Seinfeld fan, perhaps we'd all be better off without you.
