I think the stressed out writers for Seinfeld regularly scour the Web and Usenet groups looking for people to give them ideas to write new shows about. Case in point: Last night I accidentally came across this:

The vending machine thing came from Beavis And Butthead. The ep was called Vs. The Vending Machine.

Well, *lots* of sitcoms have used the cranky vending machine plot device before. Heck, The Simpsons has used it at least twice, encompassing both the "not accepted dollar" AND the "stuck candy" premise.
I suspect it's pure coincidence and/or standard sitation usage.

I agree. Its not like vending machines are rare. Chances are, the people who wrote that Seinfeld vending machine episode probably had the same thing happen to them where they put money into a vending machine, but the candy got stuck and did not come out of the machine. This same thing has happened to me at least three or four times over the years.

to pay to get polls taken, or they can just launch Netscape and get
