The end of Seinfeld?

Stop me if you've already heard this one, but...

In the TV/Radio column of the Philadelphia Inquirer today there was a segment about Seinfeld. There were two parts to the story. First, because of the earthquake and subsequent moving of the set, they will probably be unable to complete work on all of the new episodes scheduled for sweeps. They are expecting to show two (maybe more) repeats during sweeps, which (as far as I know) is virtually unheard of.

Second, Jason Alexander (George) indicated that he didn't think Seinfeld would be able to complete the next three years of its current four-year contract. He worries that the characters are becoming predictable and that the show will be unable to sustain its quality and humor for three more years.

It's likely they're not going to be the only show doing this. I hope they take the opportunity to show some reruns that I don't have on tape ("The Pony Remark," "The Stranded" "The Pilot", "Male Undbondiong", and "The Stock Tip") This may sound crass, but at least we can make the best of a bad situation.

This doesn't seem that unlikely. I hope they do bow out before they become "just another show", a la _Cheers_. Dave

As a fairly recent Seinfeld convert (last spring, about 3 episodes before the end of the season) I have *no* problem with reruns. Great chance to catch up. I am hoping that among any reruns that happen to appear in the near future will be The Contest. I've heard a little about it but I want to *see* it... :-)

First, are you the Josh Rosenzweig of USC BFA Drama fame? Cuz if so, I was a freshman when you were a senior.

Anyway, I wouldn't be surprised if the show gets cancelled - the freshness seems to have disappeared from the writing and the actors don't seem to be having as much fun with it anymore.

It wont happen for a long time... It is still NBC's big show... It has gotten several other shows off the ground (i.e. Frasier)... It's still almost a "cult hit"... Unless Kramer dies, the show lives on, or at least I hope so.
