interesting parallel

my boyfriend and i caught some of the muppet movie on the disney channel the other night and he noticed that the muppets sort of parallel the characters on seinfeld. kermit is jerry, miss piggy is elaine, fozzie is george, and gonzo is kramer. interesting when you think about it. dawn

Taxi: Alex Reger is Jerry, Tony Banta is George, Elaine Nardo is Elaine, Jim Ignatowski is Kramer

MASH: Hawkeye is Jerry, Trapper (or Beej) is George, Houlihan is Elaine, Klinger is Kramer

As far as the Muppets/Seinfeld parallel - I bought my sister a t-shirt with that exact Muppets cast (Kermit, Miss Piggy, Gonzo, and Fozzie) dressed and acting like Seinfeld. This was not an original observation - sorry! Jason

There is also an episode of Muppets Tonight (w/ Sandra Bullock) in which a tape of Seinfeld and Muppet Babies get mixed together, and the result is Seinfeld Babies. Very funny. In the 2-3 minute episode of Seinfeld Babies they have, a contest.

Unlike the tee-shirt, the puppets are original, designed to look like young versions of the Seinfeld characters.

Well, most of the readers of rec.arts.henson+muppets saw it, but not enough of the rest of the American viewing public watched it, so the show was quitely moved off of ABC.

Somewhat fortunately, the show has returned on The Disney Channel. I suspect they will show the Sandra Bullock episode at some point, but the henson web site only lists what will air through next weekend, and that's Pierce Bronsnan, and Coolio.

If it occurs to me, I'll post a heads-up here when the Sandra episode comes up (of course, that wasn't one of the better episodes of Muppets Tonight, so don't judge the series on it. I thought Seinfeld Babies was the best part of that episode.
