Who'd You Kill??

This was a topic on the Howard Stern. They named a bunch of shows and tried to decide who of the main characters they'd boot off the show. They talked about Seinfeld a bit. Gary said he'd give the boot to Newman. Howard said he'd boot off Elaine, he guesses. Robin said probably George, even though she doesn't watch the show. What do you guys think?

I GUESS I'd have to go with Elaine. I absolutely love all of them but Elaine is the only one that could possibly be removed from the show and still have a good show. -Jerry couldn't go. He's the voice of reason most of the time. No chance he could go. Can you imagine George and Kramer running around doing their antics without Jerry there to criticize them?? It would be chaos without structure. -Newman COULD go, but Newman is amazing when he was on. It just wouldn't be the same without him. -George is too integral a character. Like Jerry, there would be no chance for Seinfeld's popularity with him missing. -Kramer is the cornerstone. Plain and simple. Can you imagine Seinfeld without him? Again, there would be no chance for success without Kramer either.

So, in order of who'd I kick out first(#1) to last:

• George
• Jerry
• Kramer

I like Newman, but I like Elaine more! :-) My order:

I think the friendship between George and Jerry is central to the show. Having the quirky neighboor adds a lot of funny moments, and as I've said I like 'Lainey, but George is just too important to lose.

The characters were developed with great insight. Each is a mirror of another and their interaction constitutes two parts of one entity. At the end of one scale we have Jerry, (neat, responsible, hard-working, socially conscious, ...) his alter-ego is in Kramer (messy, freeloader, free-spirit, ...). They form a tension between "the self". On the other scale we have George (social loser, cheap, dateless,.. ) paired with his nemesis and opposite, Elaine ( socially adept, corporate worker, positive self image, ...).

It is the playing off of this four way tug-of-war that many of the great episodes are based.

Newman plays the dark side - nemesis of Jerry. Only with a great villain can a story have a great hero.

So if one were cut the other would fly backwards into the wall and crumple helplessly into a helpless lump. Metaphorically speaking.

Absolutely. I think even discussing the subject is heresy.

First off, I wouldn't get rid of anybody. But boot off first to last? Here are my picks.

What?? He's one of the best characters they've ever had! I love Puddy! The way he speaks, his stupidness, his religious needs, his relationship with Elaine... He's a goldmine.
