NBC Agrees not to Repeat Puerto Rican Episode

   This sucks ... but actually it isn't definitive. It says it
``appears'' that NBC has decided not to rerun the episode.<
   I also found the earlier post that the syndication sources weren't
responding to reporter's questions encouraging -- if they had decided to
dump the episode, I'd think they'd be quick to jump on the bandwagon and
kowtow to the PC police.<
   I have a personal reason for hoping this episode is re-run. The night
it was shown, we had some severe thunderstorms and our local NBA
affiliate cut away for almost a minute early in the show to do its radar
thingie (which always reminds me of the great George Carlin routine, the
ipsy-dipsy weatherman: ``As you can see on the radar there's a line of
thunderstorms headed for our area, but as you can also see a line of
Russian ICBMs heading in, I wouldn't shit the thunderstorms!!'').<
   I'm hoping for a clean copy.<

     Pardon the cynicism, but it wasn't more than a day
after the announcement that the Puerto Rican Day
episode would be dumped from the rerun list, that
NBC announced that taking its place would be a
rerun of the May 14 "clip show"...complete with an
added 15 minutes of recycled material, extra commer-
cial breaks, and a premium spot price relatived to a
normal rerun even of a hit show.
     Could be what's happening here is motivated less
by sensitivity to people's feelings, than an opportunity
to make an extra buck while earning undeserved
brownie points for community good-will...

But that doesn't add up...."The Puerto Rican Day" was a regular half hour show and "The Clip Show" was 45 minutes, so if they are replacing P.R.D with "Clip" how is it that they have to ADD 15 miuntes?????
