absurdity

Someone from the University of Maine wrote about the success of _Seinfeld_ (Which he spelled incorrectly...). In fact he could have spelled it "sucks-eggs" by the way he put it. Allow me to reply...

        1) YES!  The show has changed.  It most definitely has changed.
Success will change anybody or anything, no matter haw much they may
claim the opposite.  This is OKAY!!!  Have you tried watching any of the
other crap on T.V. lately?  _Full House_?  _Family Matters_?  These shows
are not funny.  _Seinfeld_ is still the most innovative show on
television (Besides maybe Larry Sanders), and it will continue to be.
        2)I agree, so far this season they have been moving away from the
everyday things.  I know that, but can you honestly say that you believe
that Jerry and Larry David are doing this to anger us?  Do you think that
they are trying to win more viewers?  NO!  They are simply shifting
styles.  Nobody is telling these people what to do.  As far as I'm
concerned, this show is the best on television, and deserves to be
watched every week.  Period, exclamation point!!!!!!!!!!!

I generally agree, Seinfeld is still one of only a few shows I watch. I think the main reason the quality is off is because they have deliberately removed any subtlety in an effort to win and keep a larger and broader audience. Let's face it, most Americans are pretty dense and Seinfeld in its glory just wasn't accessible to them.

This is the point where I wholeheartedly disagree with you, I think that they have "dummied down" the show because they want to win more viewers. I've read interviews with Jerry and he doesn't see the show lasting more than another year or two. I think he's using this season to cash in, which is his perogative, but that doesn't mean I have to like the show as much.

I think some of the people who have complained about this season are disappointed by the popularity as if someone let out a secret. Being a Seinfeld fan somehow set them apart from others. I'm disappointed by the popularity of the show because I know that if this many people like it, it can't be that great.

(Yes, I am an elitist and a cynic)

How does Mr. Wade know *what* is going on in Jerry and
Larry's head?  From what I gather from this newsgroup, is
that most people, me included, agree with Mr. Brent's
posting.  That the show deems to be going
