Seinfeld Info?

What is the plot with Seinfeld. I have just started watching it and I must say that I think it is amazing. I think the series is finished - is it???

Also, I cant seem to find any DVD sets - are there any?

It finished in 1998, and there are no DVDs, although they probably will be a set released eventually. As for the plot, it's a show about nothing, so there really is no over-arching plot, just that the characters are jerks and self-absorbed. Plots within the shows themselves are often intertwined and ulitmately related when the episode ends.

Well, it was a very long-running show, and it lasted far longer than most sitcoms. All good things...

US television works a bit differently than in the UK. Over here, we call each year's installment a "season", with each season generally consisting of 22 episodes. There were 9 seasons of Seinfeld. Nope. US shows generally continue unbroken for a number of seasons, and when they end, they *end*. Sometimes there are spin-offs or movies, sometimes there are revivals or remakes, but there's pretty much no chance of a new season being created, as is sometimes the case with UK shows. And Jerry Seinfeld has indicated he has no desire to do anything more with the Seinfeld show.

pity - so what does JS do with himself now - is he still a comedian?

Yep, he's returned to stand-up comedy. He's also the subject of the documentary, "Comedian", which follows him on tour.

I envy you. I wish I was able to view these classic shows for the first time again. The first time watching these shows were the best times. Of course, I still laugh like an idiot everytime I see them now but it is not like the first times.

thanks very much for all your help. I would love them to release the series on DVD as I would put off watching them and just go out and buy them.

If you're in UK: Paramount Comedy Channel just started series 9. Therefore it's fairly safe to assume that in 3 weeks they'll start all over again.

thats true, they missed season 5 out... but i was hoping theyd run season 5 after season 9...but i guess theres no chance of that... however, during the last run of episodes (about 8 months ago) they did include season 5...so....
