WHO CARES? ... What a question ...

Do you know what made this show popular in the first place? Worrying about stuff. Everyone loved it because it dealt with little things in life that come up every day. Like losing your car in the parking lot, having to see someone's god-ugly baby, etc. There were some crazy things, but they all possesed the essence of reality, such as George lying to the Unemployment Agency about looking for jobs and having to pull that whole stunt with Jerry's phone number. But the show made them act like REAL people because they always cared about EVERYTHING. Elaine cared about who got to deliver the last communications between her and that guy who signed nooks at Waldenbooks, because she wanted the upper hand, and they were always going out of their way not to offend anyone, like their incescant mentioning of "Not that there's anything wrong with that!" or Jerry's careful language around the Indian girlfriend. I liked it when they cared about everything.

But now, they're becoming more heartless idiots. This was all based on Jerry's dumping on George's failures and his popular line, "That's a shame." People liked this turn of events because it was new, so they decided to send the message, "We just don't care". Elaine is meaner, more bitter, and an entirely less tolerable person. Her character went from completely great to completely boring. And their attitude to Susan dying not only received numerous complaints about respect towards the deceased, it showed big-time that THEY JUST DON'T CARE. So if anyone involved the show happens to be reading this message, know this:

The show was way more realistic, and thus more entertaining, when they cared about stuff. Because that makes them look like real people, which is the secret of their popularity. I think Jerry looked like the biggest moron on earth throwing away all his valuables just because they might have been in the toilet. And once again, istead of Elaine caring and trying to help him out, she encouraged him just to see what he'd throw away. CARELESS, HEARTLESS, GREEDY, I JUST DON'T LIKE IT.

By the way, any spelling or grammar mistakes you might find are not usually common. I didn't go back to proof-check this because I want to get off the comp for today. And, as you might not be able to tell from the article, SEINFELD is my very favorite TV show. I just want it back the way it was. Please.

That was simply my observation. I could've written a lot more. I don't see messages like THIS directed at all the other guys who write long messages! I guess when I have nothing better to do with my life, I find it entertaining to reply to serious messages with pointless remarks. Not that there's anything wrong with that!

I have to agree...I find it much more enjoyable and provocative reading thoughtful, analytical, and intelligent messages, no matter the view-point, than the "Show sucked...enough said", or "loved it...enough said" messages...that is what a discussion is...trading little one-line opinions is often just a waste of time for the rest of us who are looking for more thoughtful discussion with examples and reasoning (not trying to sound like an english teacher, far from it in fact)..anwyays, that's my two cents...

Oscar: Point well taken. I was nit picking. Actually I was very glad to read your philosophy of why this program is one of our favorites. But I have to admit that I still love the humor. This show and Frasier are my favorites. The humor is certainly a cut above most other sitcoms. Carl

DK - I believe you hit the nail on the head with your post.

It's been a few years since I felt the old loyalty to the show and the writing and I really couldn't explain why. It's UNCOMFORTABLE to identify with morons.

The characters in the show have become more like caricatures and less real.

For instance, Kramer didn't know you could wake up from a coma, he takes dog medicine, and assumes that roosters wear safety equipment in a cockfight. We learn that George has been inadvertently stealing umbrellas all his life, he is described as slow witted by both Elaine and himself, he pounds on framed butterflies, asking Elaine if they are alive, and after having sex he is unable to identify test tubes. Jerry and Elaine have had their share of stupidity too, though it hasn't been as bad.
