How could Mr. Wilhelm have been at the Ball? Last time he was seen, he was brainwashed and working for the Sunshine Carpet Cleaners under the name of Tanya! Did he somehow escape and get deprogrammed?

Apparently that turned out to be a throwaway gag. Since he wasn't at any of George's meetings in "The Comeback," I had assumed he was gone for good, but I guess not.
I think people have got to stop taking every episode of "Seinfeld" so literally and figuring that there needs to be a logical answer to everything! It's a TV show! How many times did Wile E. Coyote get an anvil dropped on him and still come back to chase The Roadrunner? :-)
A unique exception to this was the 2/13 episode when Jerry and Kramer see Mike on the street, and Kramer upbraids Jerry for still fuming about Mike's "phony" remark, saying that "it was five years ago!" This is one very unusual example of TV time equaling real time, since "The Parking Space" episode WAS about five years ago. Most of the time, TV time and real time have no relationship to each other.
Mr. Wilhelm is played by Richard Herd, not Karl Malden. His name is in the credits for the episode shown in syndication 2/17 and 2/18, I'm not sure of the episode name. It's the episode with JFK's golf clubs and Tony the obsessive mechanic.
