As we all know, Jerry Seinfeld is calling it quits after this season.
But I don't understand why the show can't go on without him - with a name change, of course.
Why can't George, Kramer, Elaine, Newman, etc. continue with the show? That's a lot of talent on its own and Jerry is the straight man anyways. Why not write into the show that Jerry has moved to LA to continue his comedic career and have someone like David Brenner - playing the straight man - move into Jerry's apartment? In the initial show, they could show Kramer still busting into the apartment out of habit and eventually befriending the Brenner character. Likewise, George and Elaine could visit the apartment and accept the new character into their group. After the initial episode, the Gang of Four could continue with their weekly musings about everyday life.
Or has the show simply run out of steam in its current format - Jerry or no Jerry?

P.S. The mention of David Brenner was only for example's sake. But the new character would definitely have to be a straight man, like Jerry.
