Why does everyone complain at the final episode

I think this episode, as well as all others, were just great

Were all just saying that they didn't do as good of a job as they could have.

I think most of the episode was just stupid and unfunny with the exception of a few moments (such as Judge Art Vandelay, George cheating in "The Contest", etc)

My guess is that everyone is complaining about the final Seinfeld because it just didn't live up to certain expectations. I really didn't mind it, but I was expecting the ending to be different then all of characters ending up in jail for a year. You have to admit, that was not the best ending for a show that ran for 9 fantastic years. I've watched Seinfeld from day one and am so thankful that a show like that stuck around for so long, considering what we call sitcoms today!

The problem most likely stems from the huge buildup and the fact that it was the last episode. The massive buildup meant that people were destined to be disappointed. Even Jerry himself, while appearing on Leno that week, said "I'm sick of myself!".

Also, many people who were not Seinfeld fans tuned in to watch the finale and wound up disappointed, obviously because they were not "in" on any of the "inside" jokes. It's like a non-sports fan who watches the Super Bowl and can't understand what all the fuss is about.

Add to this the fact that it was the last ever new Seinfeld episode which made it more of a solemn moment than a reason to laugh your head off. More than once, during the finale, I reflected on the entire 9-year run and what it meant in the Grand Scheme, and this mind stste is not necessarily conducive to riotous laughter.

Anyway, I'm with you, Markus.  I've seen the Finale several times now
and it gets funnier with each viewing.  I think somepeople just enjoy
complaining.  If it makes them feel better, who are we to tell them not
to do it?

true. it was the only time I ever thought a clip show worked but a new episode just wasn't necessary. It was like this huge event, and it had to be completely fantastic to be any good...theres also the fact that it wasn't very funny, but lets get past that.
