Jerry's apartment # is 5A, Kramer's is 5B, and Newman's is 5E

Wasn't the guy with the bird in last week's episode in 5E?

OK, the Backwards EP confirmed it: Newman's apartment number is 5E. When Kramer busts in on Newman just before he blows out his candles one can see the number over Kramer's shoulder (actually, the door is closed then open again!). Now can we get on with our lives? :D

I was watching the episode last night where Jerry has to fumigate his apartment because of fleas and he goes to Newman's apartment to confront him about the chocolate bar wrappers he found under his couch. I paid careful attention to his apartment number and it was listed as 5F. All other episodes show it as 5E. Anyone else notice this?

Here's a novel idea, and I might be flamed because I'm only a lurker, but maybe the writers just don't CARE about such details! :-) I mean, it's not like they sit around saying, "Well, we had Newman in 5E before, so now that we've put Phil in 5E, we'll have to say they live in a different wing of the building!" It's something they don't even pay attention to, for the most part.

I'm a huge fan of the Andy Griffith Show--the greatest ancestor of Seinfeld's "character comedy' (as opposed to "situation comedy"). It was a great show, but you watch the reruns over and over and you see so many contradictions it's unbelievable. The shows were consistent at times, but at other times you think, "Didn't they say just the opposite a month ago?" Of course, in real time, when the shows first aired, a month's worth of reruns amounted to about a year and a half. So it's no wonder they couldn't keep those things straight.
