Kramer and clowns

This referance to Kramers fear of clowns in "the Slicer". I have a faint memory that there is some earlier story behind this one. Anyone ?

Well, Kramer tells Crazy Joe Devola ( who at the time is dressed as the clown from the opera) that his fear from clowns stems from a visit to the circus early in his life wih his father. Devola (who has a grudge against Kramer for not inviting him to a party) asks Kramer if he is still afraid of clowns. Kramer nods and says 'yep".

Wasn't there also some sort of foreshadowing of his clown fears in the episode where Jerry dates the Gymnast and Kramer goes to the Circus with him? This is also the episode where he finally passes his stone if I recall correctly?

The episode with the gymnist (Katia) was AFTER the episode with the opera. I think my point was Kramer answered positively. yep or yeah!
