when elaine suggests O.J. as a name change to her boyfriend Joel. Foreshadowing? The episode was produced in the summer fall of '93? Anybody?

No, I don't think that this is some "eerie coincidence" to the O.J. Simpson trial since Elaine chose the name O.J. as a "non-violent" name.

Actually, it's amazingly coincidental.  Her boyfriend shared the
name of a serial killer.  She wanted him to change it, and offered
OJ as an option.  6 months later one of the most infamous 'killers'
in the USA was named OJ.

I don't know when the episode was produced, but I do know that the first time it aired was November 18, 1993, well before the OJ thing. Kinda scarry!!!

Perhaps we'll never know if O.J. Simpson watched the series in 1993 (unless it was brought up in the trial--maybe that explains the Johnnie Cochran-like character who showed up in a few later episodes).

Elaine was brushing up on her football, reading a N.Y. Giants media guide. As I recall, the Giants had a running back named O.J. Anderson in the early-90's. I think that's where she got the name, although I chuckle every time people make the Simpson connection.
