Rolling Stone cover

Ok, so I am a flake. I said I would do this like a month ago and I just did it.

I have the RS cover of the fab 4 in .GIF format.It is 800x600 (approx) and 256 colors. So, it is a big file (~430K). I uuencoded it, but I don't feel like posting 7 messages to get it all up here. So, if someone wants to suggest an FTP site, I'll put it there.

Ok, I uploaded a .gif and a .jpg to quartz.rutgers.edu into the /incoming area. I am not sure how long it will take to get it transferred to /pub/tv+movies/images. The .jpg is much smaller, but has poorer coloring than the .gif. Although, I must say I am not totally thrilled with the quality of either, but I think there as good as any other image in there.

Hey-

I couldn't find the Rolling Stone gif file on quartz. I looked in all the image directories, and couldn't seem to find it.

Could you please tell me the file name and location on quartz so that I may FTP a copy?

I just got a notice from the sysadmin, the file is now in /pub/tv+movies/seinfeld. the name (at least the one I gave it) is RSSEIN.JPG.

I could not find the rolling stone cover on quartz.rutgers.edu can someone please tell me where it is

Is there something wrong with RSSEIN.jpg in quartz.rutgers.edu?? I loaded it down twice (yes in binary thank you), and both times it seemed as though it were corrupted. Maybe I just got some messed up packets? :-)

Yeah, I noticed that too. When I tried to view it I got the message: "Unable to convert; end of file reached." I downloaded it in binary also, so I didn't go wrong there. I'd have to say the file is messed up, but I could be wrong.

I had the same message when I loaded it. The viewer that I loaded it with conintued to show the pic, but there is some garbage near the bottom of the pic. All the pertinent parts of the picture (wow, what and alliteration) are still there though....

Hello all, I seem to be having a mite of a problem and I wonder if someone might help me. I've gone to quartz.rutgers.edu, delighted, in the Sein paraphenelia and admired the capsules from afar. I started to download capsules, when I was hit by their .gz extension. I then saw that someone had kindly included a gzip menu close by. I downloaded that gzip and attempted to use it to decompress one of the capsules. My only reward was a delightful message that resembled "this file is a batch gzip file get a newer version of gzip." I have spent the last week wandering aimlessly around the net searching for the "newer version of gzip." If someone could point me towards this treasured file, or show me the error of my ways, I would greatly appreciate it.

I had the same problem, then I went back in and read the directions. Leave off the .gz at the end of the file and it will be decompressed for you. Enjoy.
