Has Elaine had cosmetic surgery?

Does anyone know if Julia-Louis Dreyfus has had plastic surgery?

I can't tell if her changing looks is due to aging/increased make-up or due to surgical changes (plastic surgery is incredibly common in LA, but this show is done in New York where it might not be so commonplace). At any rate, if you compare the Elaine of even 2 years ago to the one now, she looks quite different. Her nose seems more pronounced as well as her lips looking thicker. Her eyes also look a little bigger.

The show is done in New York??? As far as I know it is definitely done in LA. Proof? In a Jay Leno show Jerry Seinfeld is filmed going to the studio where his show is being taped. There were palmtrees all around.

Is the show filmed in LA or New York. The show's premise is BASED in New York, and you see external shots of the New York area, etc, so I always assumed it was in NY.

The only LA episode for Seinfeld was when Kramer went to Hollywood after that fight with Jerry over the keys.

Can anyone settle this?

I doubt if Seinfeld does any shooting in NY. The exterior shots don't look much like the Upper West Side of Manhattan, where Jerry & the gang are supposed to live. In fact, the street scenes look real phony because the sidewalks are usually too narrow. I'm sure those scenes are done on the grounds of a Hollywood studio.

Possibly. But there was an episode... I forget the name, but it was the one in which Jerry, Elaine, and George did stuff with senior citizens, and Kramer and Newman sold records...anyway, there was an exterior shot of Bleecker Bob's Records, in downtown Manhattan, which was as far as I can tell the real thing; I've been in the store, I know what the outside looks like. However, the interior scenes weren't filmed there. The real Bleecker Bob's Records is much dingier and bigger than the one shown on the show.

So the point is, some exterior shots are probably shot in NYC, but some aren't. Interior shots aren't, even if they're of actual NYC places.

You are correct, Jeff. Actually, very few scenes are actual NY street scenes, as you pointed out. The street scenes that we see are primarily filmed at CBS studios in Studio City, CA. They have a giant silk screen covering the the street set so as to diffuse the light and give the illusion of it truly being shot in NY (i.e., not much light gets through to the streets because of all the skyscrapers). In fact, (not related), at one end of the street set is the stage where Grace Under Fire is shot and at the other end is the stage where 3rd Rock is filmed. Not that this has anything to do with the topic, of course. :)

Seinfeld is filmed at CBS Studios in LA, but takes place in New York. For actual New York scenes, such as Kramer's chase in "The Cadillac," stand-ins in are used to do second unit work in NYC. A couple of weeks ago, they used the Seinfeld street on The Naked Truth (which is dumb since "Naked" takes place in LA) and it's also been used on Caroline in the City.

The show is filmed in LA. When they need exterior shots of buildings in NY, they send a crew to get the shot not the whole cast.

Last night on KNBC they had a brief segment about famous TV houses that are in Southern California. According to this segment, Jerry's apartment building is actually in downtown L.A.

The show is filmed in LA studios and outside shots are done in NYC. Shoshanna moved to California the other year to be closer to Gerry while attending college.

You mean closer to his money? :) She will probably ending up marrying the man, and taking half of the $43 million he makes a year in syndication after they divorce (Jerry won't always be so sought after; but Shoshanna will probably be hit on by guys for a couple of decades to come.)
