Jerry Seinfeld rerun on SNL

Just wanted to let everybody know that tomorrow (3-20-00) Comedy Central is airing the SNL rerun that Jerry guest hosted in 1991 (too bad it's been cut down from its original 90 mins. to 60 min.) Check your local listings for times.

    Was it that long ago? I thought I recall it airing later, around 1994 or so
after the show had established itself as the top sitcom in the country.
     No matter...NBC reran it the weekend Seinfeld went off the air in 1998,
and it was quite possibly the best single SNL episode of the decade. You're
right to call attention to it, it's worth watching again.

Sorry dude, I think the Jim Carey '95 or '96 SNL was the top ep. Seinfeld is close.

I disagree, Samuel L Jackson in 97 is the best show ever, IMHO of course -Steve

He was (and is) great too. Carrey, at this stage, has talents that work best on
the big screen, in theatrical films. Jerry works best on TV or live on stage,
which meant his SNL worked just a little better for me. But they were each
great.
     Which makes me think of one thing. Originally, SNL wasn't even supposed to
have guest hosts. The show was originally developed in 1975 with the idea of
Albert Brooks as permanent host, and that concept only died at the last minute
when Brooks' own film work got in the way. Maybe at this stage it's time to
think about reviving the original concept of a permanent host for SNL, and for
Jerry to be that host. Who knows if he'd be the slightest bit interested? But
it would combine two of the things he loves most---live comedy performance
(both monologue and improv) and living and working fulltime in New York City.
If I were in Lorne Michaels' shoes, I'd ask Jerry to do it. The worst he could
do is say no, and he might not.
     Thoughts, anyone?
