Licking 200 envelopes??

Viewers criticize the realism of Susan licking 200 envelopes to death instead of using a water sponge, and debate whether the wedding should have ended differently.

I have read a lot of the banter about Susan's death on this newsgroup but I don't believe anyone has brought up a basic issue:

If someone is expecting 200 guests at their wedding, it is very doubtful that they would personnally lick 200 envelopes. Most often people will get a water dobber. It is a little bottle full of water that has a sponge on the end that people can buy for the purpose of sealing envelopes or adhering stamps.

It makes absolutely no sense that Susan would lick all the envelopes herself. Also, after she started feeling queasy it seems that she would have stopped licking them instead of continuing until she passed out.

They could have done so much with this season ender. For example, they might have had the wedding and shown George escaping out a bathroom window just before the ceremony.

Just a couple of thoughts...

immunity to licking toxic damp areas. Therefore, she didn't just get sick but was able to lick long enough to get the fatal dose. Second, it gave her the stamina to single-handedly and fatally lick the 200 envelopes.

Ah man! What a sick Parallelism!!

First it gave her a slight

Up to now I have felt that the season finale had no redeeming qualities at all, and neither did all the caustic comments defending the indefensible here. Finally, this posting made me laugh out loud.

Thanks, I needed that.

If you don`t have a sponge, a folded up wet paper towel works just as well. No one would lick 200 envelopes.

Susan made more money than George, she could buy her own sponge!

She probably could have (and realistically would have) insisted on more expensive invitations, too.

Actually, we know that she was out of sponges - remember George trying to borrow a sponge from elain for "make-up sex"? ;)

Don't you remember? Elaine had bought up all the sponges in the world!

Since Susan has more money than George, why would she agree to buy the cheapest invitations? Especially since she probably had to pay for them herself.

Susan probably only had about 100 envelopes to send, not 200. Expecting 200 guests would mean sending only about 100 invitations, as you send one invitation for each couple or pair of guests (i.e. invited person "and guest").

In my opinion, 100 envelopes is a lickable number.

I wouldn't lick 100 envelopes myself. But that is just me.

Back to the original point of the post, even if she only had to lick about 100 envelopes, you would think that when she tasted them she would have decided not to lick them, but rather to seal them in another way (ie water dopper, glue, whatever). When she licked the first envelope, her face gave way to a disgusted look so obviously they didn't taste good. Why lick 100 ad tasting envelopes?

Shelley

Are you crazy? You would end up with about 4 mouthfuls of glue in your system, probably causing your heart to stick to your stomach.

I had to send out about a 60 inviations and thank you card cards for my wedding. I just cut a sponge into a small cube - worked like a charm.

I guess Susan was out of sponges or water.....hehehe
