Fans debate the correct spelling of Russell Dalrymple's last name after George misspells it in the pilot episode, with disagreement over whether it's Dalrymple, Dalrimpel, or something else entirely.
Everytime I see Russel's last name written somewhere, it's spelled Dalrimple. But in the pilot episode, when George makes an attempt at the spelling (He's incredible at this), he goes D-A-L-R-I-M-P-E-L. And Russel says:
'Not even close'
And in the close captioning, it goes: dowlimble
And we know it's not with a Y
So, it's not Dalrimpel, not Dalrimple (not close, remember?) Not Dalrympel, Dalrymple, but I doubt it's Dowlimble, or is it?
Any thought?
I think the "not even close" part pretty much negates any legitimate guess.
For all we know, he could spell it S-M-I-T-H, but *pronounce* it Dalrimple.

I believe it's "Dalrymple". George WAS close, although if it's your own name being misspelled any error may seem larger. Or perhaps Russell didn't want to give George the satisfaction of even being close. :-)

I think this is correct. Russell didn't especially like George (daughter's cleavage incident, interupting dinner at his apartment).

That was the meeting where Russell asked George, if it's about nothing, then why is he watching. When George replied, because it's on TV and Russell came back with that 'not yet' zinger, you kinda figured where George stood with him.
