Soup Nazi

Hi there, I was just wondering if anyone knows where the ACTUAL "soup Nazi" is located in New York. I really want to experience his cruelty, as well as his supposedly delicious soup.

Yes, he's on 55th just east of 8th ave. I went a few days ago and it was unbelievably like the episode. a long line then when you get to the front he puts out his hand. you hand him the money, order and take a step or two to the left. he gives you your change and then prepares your soup. if you do everything right he hands the soup to the guys in the back and they prepare your bag with fruit and bread and a little chocolate mint. a large soup is about $9. If you piss him off... it's not bread or fruit to you. he also has a sign up that says "fruit $5 bread $2". if you don't get fruit and bread and ask for it he WILL charge you for it. it's a real scene!

Got a big write up in the press, the whole deal.

Can't wait to see it -- we're a little slow getting our episodes.

Think they come via cargo vessel, stopping off at all the Pacific Islands on route.

It has been well-known for quite some time that the "Soup Nazi" was based on a real New York City soup vendor.

He did NOT play himself on the episode! In fact, he is very uncomfortable, to say the least, with his notoriety as the real-life "Soup Nazi." After the show aired the first time, The New York Post carried an article headlined :Seinfeld Soup Man Declares: 'I Am Not A Nazi.'" In the article, he was quoted as saying, "I am not a Nazi. (Jerry and NBC) are the real Nazis!"

No, it was not the real soup nazi on the show. The real soup nazi has said "No more soup for Jerry Seinfeld". OK. I'm making that up, but he was not at all thrilled about his portrayal on the show.

Hey, I'm from NYC and New Yorkers are merciless! It must be great to wake up every day and be confronted with people calling you a "Nazi."

His business was doing great, anyway. I doubt he's thankful for the "publicity."

Forgive my ignorance, but what is a soup nazi? I guess I missed this one...

The soup Nazi was a raving lunatic who ran a soup counter favored by the gang (1 episode only). He ran his counter like a fascist and refused to serve anyone who did not follow the proper ordering protocol. Apparently what he lacked in tenderness was more than compensated for by his astounding soup-making abilities.
