Seinfeld: a musical episode....

I was thinking today that it would of been hilarious if they did a
'musical' Seinfeld episode. They could incorporate a bunch of stuff
from broadway musicals, which they seemed to enjoy doing anyways
with Jesus and the Technicolor Dreamcoat or even Streetcar Named
Desire.
    I know Julia and Jason can sing and dance, and I'm sure
Kramer could with his acting experience. Jerry of course would be
absolutely hopeless singing hideously like on Letterman's show
and being one step behind on the inordiantly(sp) choreographed
musical numbers. Of course this is what would make the show
funny, a comedian trying to pass himself off as a Broadway talent
but failing miserably!!
    The final act could be on the street where all the cast members
would do the can-can. In fact this would of been a good idea
for the finale....go out in a blaze of stupidity, instead of a clip
show.

Hey, there's an interesting question: which sitcom first did "the musical"? Or "the dream sequence"? I'm sure The Dick Van Dyke Show (one of my favorites) did both, although I imagine it wasn't the first. Anyone want to take a guess?

No, no, no, Jesus had that technicolor coat; Joseph was the dude from Godspell. And Mary Magdalene was the hooker from Miss Saigon, played recently by Marie Osmond. :-)

Well, what do you call the sequence where Jerry's brain and libido play chess? If it wasn't reality, you could call it a dream.

I mean there were a lot of series in the past that played around with making an entire episode in a "Western" motif or an entire dream sequence where the lead character wakes up at the end. Seinfeld never toyed with that - and NOBODY ever did a "backwards" episode. The jury is out on whether that was a good idea. Personally I thought it was a good idea but the content itself was not great.
