In what episode did Newman first appear in person?
It is only lately that I have have had the opportunity to see some of the early episodes, like from 12 to 35 or so. So far Newman has only been talked about and heard as a voice from the roof. (When he is threatening to jump. Kramers begs Newman to wave when he is passing Kramers window!)
It seems to me that at this early stage Newman was not much of a solid character, and I think the voice is not that of Wayne Knight.

Sure, I'll confirm it :-) They did the voice again with Wayne Knight for the syndication, but we get original episodes with no cuts or reshots. Another thing they changed was George's father Frank, who was played originally by John Randolph (The Handicap Spot) and scenes were reshot for syndication with Jerry Stiller.

When Newman says he is doing to jump, the voice we hear isn't Wayne Knight? It sounds like Wayne Knight to me, or was this changed for syndication?
