More Final Episode Info

Okay, I was watching the 10 o'clock news last night on Ch.11 over here in New York, and they said that co-writers Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld have written 4 scripts for the final episode, one is the real script that will be used for the shoot on April 8 and aired on May 14, and the other three are bogus scripts that are used just to keep the media secondguessing. One plotline revolves around Jerry buying a house in California (kinda like the one that was posted here), but it is safe to say that this is probably one of the "bogus scripts".

     Seems like a hell of a lot of work to do just to throw off
the media. It makes no sense to expend all that extra effort
on scripts they KNOW won't air, unless either (a) they tried
several approaches, weren't immediately sure which way to
go, and then took them all as far as rough-draft shoot-
ing scripts before settling on a finale to air, which seems the
most likely; (b) they fleshed out several alternate endings
and still aren't 100% sure which one's going to air; (c)  they
 worked out rough drafts for possible reunion specials or a feature-length film
to be shot after the series ends, and they
wanted to get some ideas down now while they thought of
them just to make sure the future development of the charac-
ters is consistent; or (d) the supposed bogus scripts were ac-
tually either reject scripts from earlier season finales, unused
rough drafts considered and rejected for air this year, or drafts
of what would have been episodes of an aborted 10th season, written as tests to
see if there were enough good ideas left for
the characters to go on. (There are some reports that Jerry
actually at least played with some ideas on where a 10th
season might go and what would happen to the core charac-
ters, before he decided to leave us all wanting just a little
more instead.)
     Any one of those scenarios allows them to throw out red
herrings and keep us guessing and talking...but does it really
make sense to write scripts for no other purpose than that?
