We're not the only ones

I thought the people who meet here to analyze everything in excruciating detail were one of a kind.

Not so. I watched a movie over the weekend. I do this about every three years or so. Forrest Gump. I watched the whole thing to see what the plot was. There wasn't any, near as I could tell. Anyhow they had this Sally Fields look-a-alike playing his mother. So I looked at IMDb to see who she was. (Sally Fields, but I digress).

In the process I stumbled on this link

I was surprised to find that this seems to be a cottage industry. There are apparently alot of people who engage in this kind of thing. Is that being anal-retentive? Or is it something else?

It's great fun to read. And you can use it to leave people who like a movie you hate speechless. No speech!

Sounds like something Elaine would collect for the "English Patient" and then sit in the movie and point out all these errors very loudly. :-)

I think getting to know a work well enough that you can then look at these details also helps you notice how much work is put into these to make it right. Any time they show a movie from an early period, like when they show the streets, cars, buildings, I think about how much work went into those details. I usually don't notice the errors the first viewing unless it is something remember pretty well.
