BTW, I don't know if you're being facetious but the creators of the show have consistently said the show is about nothing. Their motto was something like, "No hugs, no lessons."

They broke ground with some of the subjects they covered in such episodes as "The Contest" and "The Boyfriend." The show inspired imitators about young people in urban settings. Copycats include Mad About You, Friends, Ellen, etc.

Actually as Poldy said the concept is that the show is really about nothing, so if you don't like this idea, well you kinda expect sth else that doesn't show up so in this aces : you do not like seinfeld...

This is the whloe theory i made when some of my friends told me that they didn't like th show... i keep seeing them because THEY'RE HUMANS TOO!

This is one of my favorite scenes. Jerry takes so much delight in ripping George, and when he throws in the last dig as George is dropping a small tip on the table and walking away, you can see glee in his expression. That must have been a fun day on the set.

I watched an episode of Seinfeld once and it did absolutely NOTHING for me. Still, it takes all sorts. And if you admire the vacancy at the heart of Seinfeld, you're going to LOVE The Royle Family, if it ever gets shown in the States. Not only does nothing ever happen in it, but the conversation is on the most mundane subjects, and nothing approaching a witty remark is ever made, since although the family members quite often attempt repartee they make Homer Simpson look like a towering genius.Its pace is crawlingly slow. Yet it really is original and funny, and amazingly enough it has heart as well.

Oh and BTW, if any Frasier fans (as opposed to Seinfeld fans) are still reading this, there is one point of contact between the Crane family and the Royle family and only one - they are both fans of Antiques Roadshow.
