George's sable hat. Where is it?

On the clasic Kenny Rogers episode, rerun Thursday, the writeres never answered the question of George's sable hat. We never found out if his date simply had the hat and was lying to George when she said she never saw it. We never found out from the writers if, in fact, the date's maid stole the sable hat. If so, George would have aksed the date what the name of the maid was to follow up. Oh, well, George may not have cared since he did not pay for the hat but surely Elaine, to save her job would follow up.

I thought Elaine was anti fur, why did she buy George the hat in the first place? Elaine sure is letting her cruelty to animals get out of hand.
