"The Switch": what's the parody?

I saw "The Switch" in syndication yesterday.

This episode has two scenes which scream parody: the brainstorming/plotting of Jerry and George at the restaurant and at his apartment; and the scene where Kramer's mom meets Newman on the street.

What is the parody? I've heard, and considered, the explanation that its a parody of the crime/cinema noir genre, but I'm not satisfied with this explanation. I feel they are parodying a specific film, particularly when George and Jerry are first discussing the switch. "It can't be done" etc. etc. I get the sense that its a parody of a classic, but perhaps obscure, crime drama revolving around the impossible crime/heist of the century type thing. Any ideas? What movie is it? Is it simply the parody of a genre (I don't think so)?

I thought it was a parody of The Postman Always Rings Twice, which I haven't seen, but something seems familiar about the Newman/Babs exchange at the end. Anyone else?
