This i perhaps one of the funniest dialogue from Seinfeld. I forget which episode this is from, but the show begins with George telling Jerry about him flirting with the operator because he has become so desperate.
George: I don't want hope. Hope is killing me. My dream is to become hopesless. When you're hopeless you don't care, and when you don't care, that indifference makes you attractive.
Jerry: So hopelessness is the key.
George: My only hope.
