Mixed reactions to Julia Louis-Dreyfus's new show, with viewers finding it predictable and derivative of her Seinfeld character rather than groundbreaking.

I asked my husbo what he thought about it (I was studying), he said it was pioneering, but with his accent, it came out "it sucked." I will probably watch it "just cuz."

It wasn't good. But it wasn't bad either. The role is way more 'Elainey' than that Elly thing she did a couple of years ago. It could almost be called 'Adventures of the New Elaine', and take the old Elaine and transport her some 20 years into the future, lost her NY friends and now lives with her brother. Didn't care much for the supporting characters, some were plain annoying. There is potential, though, if they come up with some better, quirky characters and more plausible storylines. It was weird that the pilot episode had not much to do with Old vs New Christine...

I found myself channel surfing after the first 15 minutes. I just couldn't get into it. The whole premise of the show is too serious to ever be really funny IMO.

I completely agree, I felt I was watching Elaine too. I thought it was just ok and yes, there is potential but I am not that optimistic. I failed to see what was "pioneering" about it though.
