A few nights ago, I rented "Brain Candy", with the Kids in the Hall, and it was a hoot. I loved it. As I watched, it dawned on me that "Seinfeld" would make a great movie,too. The writers could really take the time to develop a plot of classic Seinfeld proportions, with enough time to make it really intricate in that ridiculous way the subplots are so well interwoven into the main plot. Not only that, there are enough episodes from which to draw obscure references that fans can enjoy and can revel in that special feeling that fans have of being in on the inside joke. For instance, the episode a couple of weeks ago, when Jerry went to Florida to buy back his parents' car. The whole thing with the pen was lost to me because I hadn't seen the other episode in which the weird relationship between that man and his pen was established. My brother had to explain it to me. On the other hand, there are many references I do catch, and I get bigger laughs from the callbacks because it makes them more real to me, and I'm sharing in the recollection of some comical incident. "I won a contest." They are like some really wacked out friends I know very well; quirky friends, whose pasts I'm very familiar with.
So I think this show can make (and prosper) from a feature film adaption. What do you think? A good idea or what?
