The funny thing is, besides the fact that they always hang out in his apartment, Jerry seems to be the least important character---no?????

I just had to get my vote in for this!

George is definitely number one! Elaine is definitely last, with Jerry and Kramer pretty much interchangeable in positions two and three.

It just occurred to me that Newman hasn't been considered in this ranking. I think he's absolutely classic and has to be considered. Having said that, I'd throw him in the same interchangeable mix as Kramer and Jerry. They're all great but I still think George is consistently the best. My $0.02 anyway.

Exactly. Jerry is easily the least important character; I cant think of too many episodes that have revolved around him. It's really George's show now.
