use of orientals

The use of orientals are insulting to me and a lot of Asians. And I don't think it's a waste of time figuring out what to call myself. Actually, I didn't spend time thinking about it. If someone is insulted, they're insulted. It's not like they have to think about it first. And Andrew, if you want to call yourself, oriental, that's your perogative. I'm just saying a lot of Asians don't like it, and people should keep that in mind. Being Asian is my identity--how could that be trivial? Eunice

My original shock was the HUGE number of posts using 'alot' (which, witch) meant that people had used and (heard,herd) the word but never seen it written.

So (who's, whose) responsibility is it (to, too, two) (insure, ensure) kids (read, reed) good books these (daze, days)?

Next week I shall launch upon shows such as Young and the Restless which use things like "My mother, she. . ." & "Your brother, he. . ."

I haven't noticed anything unusually insensitive with the use of Orientals. Or maybe I just don't remember, and if I don't remember, that proves my own case. I remember one particular show that featured an oriental woman (a lawyer). I thought she was very attractive and "no dummy" either. In fact if you went through all the episodes, I am certain that "whites" are slandered much more often. It doesn't bother me. I am comfortable in who I am.
