Was wondering - where was the name list officially published ? The name of each episode is not shown in the credits. (I am watching the syndicated version).
Also, who came up with the names ? They dont seem to have any consistent rules. Its not always about Jerry's story in the episode, its not always the story that is the major part of the episode, and its sometimes, but again not always the latest Sein-phrase. (You know, The Soup Nazi, Spongeworthy, Yada Yada).

I don't think there's any set pattern. Sometimes it's the most memorable part of an episode. Sometimes it's the tiny thing the episode somehow revolves around. Sometimes it's something that was of no real significance. Often the title just seems completely arbitrary in itself. With most shows, you could come up with a list of several alternate titles- they probably just pick the one they like best.
For an example, I'll use "The Pothole". Alternate titles for this could include: "The Toothbrush" "The Toilet" "The Sewing Machine" "The Highway" "The Flounder" "The Janitor's Closet" "The Key Ring" "The Fireball" "The Holy Cow" "The Adoption" "The Germs" "The Wide Lanes" +whatever anyone else can think of
My personal pick would have "The Highway", since that is the overall theme that ties this show together, but apparently the Seinfeld people liked "The Pothole" best.
