FRIENDS is better!!

Dear loser fans of Seinfeld,
    Since the series premiere of Friends and Seinfeld's season
premeire I have watched each episode of both shows (as well as all
other programs on NBC's Thursday night lineup) and I have come to a
conclusion.  Seinfeld is no longer king of NBC.  On Thursday night
the new show Friends has had more original stories, more humorous
characters, and more energy.  Seinfeld, on the other hand, has
mellowed out since its peak.  The characters keep finding themselves
in more and more unlikely situations which simply are not funny. The
main charcters also seem less energetic than before as if the actors
have become bored with their roles.  Last seasons comedic hit Frasier
is also a better program in terms of acting, content, and humor.  I
believe that NBC should consider taking Seinfeld off the air at the
conclusion of the season in order to insure that it goes out with
the realitive strength it continues to have, rather than stretch the
series out over two more seasons and turn into a silly television
program at the same quality level as ABC's "Full House".  That would
a true tradgedy.  I hope that NBC continues to create such
entertaining programs of such high quality as it has done over the
past decade ( with the occasional bad show like Empty Nest slipping
through).  Overall I believe that Seinfled is no longer the best
program on televison and has been replaced by fresher shows such as
Mad About You, Friends, and Frasier and should be pulled off the air
following the conclusion of this season.  I realize that many of you
reading this article will disagree, but the fact is that Seinfled does
have the energy to continue like Cheers did.  If you disagree then you
are a dumb ass who doesn't know jack shit about television.  This is

Dear LOSER,

You are definitely wrong. A bad Seinfeld beats a great Friends any day of the week, including Thursday! The characters on Friends cannot even compare to George, Elaine, Kramer, Newman and Jerry...can't you see that? The Seinfeld storyline is still way out in front of Friends. I have tried to watch Friends several times, and have decided that it is best to take that half hour to clean house, or take a dump. The characters have no personality that the audience can interpret as humorous, the storylines have predictable conclusions, and the sets are ridiculously make-believe (living room furniture in a pub?, STUPID).

So there you go Aaron, it is you who doesn't know jack about TV. You're probably just one of those Generation X,fly by the seat of your baggy below the hip hanging jeans, sunglasses at the Mall kinda person who when people ask for your identification - you show them your belt buckle.

How did Night Court continue for so many years genius? Seinfeld has a unique appeal whether it be humor or character. No show does what it does with such seriousness. Seinfeld has lost something I won't disagree but FRIENDS? I watched that show last night and I laughed maybe twice. "I think my butt's angry" what the hell is that? "I'll pick up my shoes and put them back before anyone wakes up" Is this their idea of an interesting tag. Come on "the puddle" "the pizza" just the basic silliness of Elaine's face every time she thought of her question was cool. Poppy was very sloppy and that's great. George was at his anal most annoying self. Seinfeld will continue and once Friends gets kicked out to another day to suffer a quick death don't come crying to me. [email] "God bless those pagans"

Apparently, some(most) of the people around here don't care too much for your gen-x baggy pants, etc views on Seinfeld. I agree that Friends is a good show, but I don't think it has the all around appeal that Seinfeld _still_ does. Friends is quite obviously geared toward a 20 something audience, simply because there are no characters on the show out of this age group. It deals with the everyday lives of these people, and the problems that face them and a lot of the Seinfeld viewing audience can't relate to that like you or I might. So, I guess I'm trying to say that even though I think Friends is a great show, Seinfeld is still better. BTW, you might want to keep the flames down before someone comes to find you in Champaign. Can't wait till they start a Friends group. Maybe you'll have more fun there.

	I came to the same conclusion yesterday, after watching both FRIENDS
and SEINFELD, I find myself liking FRIENDS a lot more! I actually just told
a friend of mine the same thing! I can't get enough of the show and it's
characters....and certain snippets from each show keep popping into my mind
and give me a good laugh. This used to happen with SEINFELD too, but ever since
the beginning of last season the show has been going down the tubes (with the
exception of an occasinal good show). But I'm willing to give SEINFELD a
second-chance (so to speak), in other words I don't think it should be taken off
the air -- it hasn't hit rock bottom YET!
	Yet more and more I find I'm enjoying MAD ABOUT YOU, and FRIENDS a lot
more than SEINFELD. I didn't even laugh ONCE through the 10/27/94 episode of
SEINFELD except maybe when Kramer fell under the couch the movers were bringing in.
While on the other hand, when FRIENDS ended, I was really disappointed and desperately
wanted to see another episode -- or to grab hold of it's seducing 'ENERGY'!

Two Twentysomethings cutting in here. Karen and I both vote that Friends has got Seinfeld beat hands down. Karen has always hated Seinfeld, so her vote doesn't really count, but I've got to say I've noticed the steam and novelty Seinfeld has lost in recent seasons. Mad About You took up a lot of its slack, but there really isn't anything else out there that captures a lot of the Gen-X life we actually live like Friends does. Keep in mind that this is coming from two Squires, but that doesn't lessen our views.

I held out great hope for FRIENDS, but I was, and continue to be, sadly disappointed. None of the characters seem to have that much in common (except for the brother and sister), and their problems aren't that interesting (as a twenty-something, I know for a fact that we all don't sit around in coffee bars and complain all the time). Seinfeld may be completely contrived (after all, it IS fiction), but it's also much more interesting to watch and much more clever.
