Fans praise the Doorman episode for Larry Miller's comedic performance as the self-deprecating doorman character who repeatedly insults himself while Jerry tries to befriend him.
My vote goes to the show with "The Doorman." The comedian who played the doorman was great -- I have seen him a number of times on TV but do not know his name. Jerry keeps trying to be friends with the doorman, but the doorman keeps putting himself down to the detriment of Jerry.

Yes, Larry Miller definitely played the doorman. Besides Mad About You, he is currently starring on Life's Work. He also had another sitcom last season that lasted about 3 episodes (he was a brother in law who lived with his sister and husband). He played on Law and Order -- I believe he got away with murdering his wife.

Was that him in Eddie Murphy's Nutty Professor? He was the dean of the college.
He is also on ABC's "Life's Work" as a district attorney (tonight).

The comedian in question is Larry Miller, a man whom many in the TV biz think should star in his own sitcom. Currently he's sort of wilting in a new ABC shitcom called "Life's Work."
I especially like the scene in "The Doorman" where he's just staring at Jerry with a quirky expression on his face, for ten or so seconds. It's just so weird.
The best episode by far is The Marine Biologist. George at his best.

I forgot about the "Close talker" episode! I found it so funny because my neighbor is the same way. Everytime I have to talk to him I have to keep from laughing! Kramer's response was great!
