What does everyone think were the best one liners in the history of the show?
One liners
Fans discuss their favorite one-liners from Seinfeld's history, sharing memorable quotes like 'What's the show about? It's about nothing!' and 'I choose not to run.'
That's easy:
"What's the show about??"
"It's about nothing!!"
or
"Giddy up."
"I've got my eye on you, Big Daddy!"
I use that line every 2 or 3 days or so.

This isn't really a one-liner, but the one I use all the time is "I wish I were taller." My friend, Kyle, loves to complain and whine to me about things that I can't really help him with, so I'll tell him that. For example, a conversation might go something like:
"I have so much to do today. Why does my life suck?"
"I wish I were taller."
Occasionally, my friend Chris will actually be there to catch the reference and accuse his non-existent wife of being a slut.

I don't think these are really one-liners. A one-liner is a joke in one line ("Take my wife--please!"). It has to be funny in itself. These (as you mention) are references to scenes.
That's why I prefaced it by saying it's not really a one-liner...I guess I was just thinking about it, because at the time I posted it, I just used that. Sorry.

Oops! Sorry.

Right, I don't think there were any one liners in "Seinfeld". The closest to a conventional joke that I can think of is:
But I've got hand!
And you're gonna need it.
That line always struck me as a little too sitcomy. Seinfeld was kind of that anti-joke show. There's brilliantly funny stuff but it's only funny in context. When Seinfeld makes normal jokes the other characters tend to groan.
ELAINE: Everything with you has to be so .. jokey.
JERRY: I'm a comedian!
John Twernbold wrote in message news:...
Exactly! That's an example that I was thinking of using in my post but I was afraid I couldn't paraphrase it well enough and I was too lazy to research it. Jerry had the pig saying something to the effect that "... I can't find my receipt because my place is a sty." That's a pretty funny conventional joke but the big laugh comes with the stuff you quoted.
I was watching "The Comeback" last night (the "jerkstore" episode). George's comeback is so damn lame, it's an anti-joke: funny because it's so bad. But, on top of that, Reilly's original joke about the ocean running out of shrimp is pretty weak as well. The laughs come from various abstract aspects (the paranoid fantasy that all present will laugh at Reilly's jokes while George's fall painfully flat). There's also the rest of the cast missing the humor of "jerkstore" and coming up with alternates, much to George's maniacal frustration. It's funny... at least to me it is, though I thought the show was pretty stupid the first time I saw it. Also, there's a pattern with Kramer. He suggests "Yeah, well I slept with your wife" as an alternate joke in "The Comeback" and "My wife's a slut" in "The Cartoon".
Sorry to get so analytical but this kind of thing is fun for me.
K: Tell him you're a jokemaker.
J: I'm a jokemaker.

I know I've already broken up this thread with a non one-liner, but some of these aren't one liners either. A one-liner should really stand on it's own without any context whatsoever. Thus, "It shrinks?" isn't really a one-liner. Yes, we all know what it's referring to, but the test is really whether someone can laugh at it without ever having seen the show. Mark's already pretty much said this earlier, but I guess it needs some repeating.
Yes, I know the irony of posting this after I posted non-one-liners.
Yes, I know..."what's ironic"?

I'd have to agree with that one, with one slight edit:
"It shrinks?!?"
It doesn't convey the right emotion without the exclamation mark!

I think that's a superfluous exclamation point!

Yes, but why did he have that dream? In what way is it related to Frued.

Not necessarily one of the best, but it's definitely underrated:
George's boss Mr. Kruger: "Oh, damn. I've locked myself out of my office again. Oh well. I'm going home."
Can't tell you how many times I've felt like that.
rerics
no one would ever get that except for seinfeld freaks, which i guess is the problem with most of these. i wouldnt so much call it a problem as an enigma, wrapped up in a puzzle, wrapped up in a mystery...
