The Seinfeld Finale--Very Good

Well, I really liked the finale. It was ingeniously constructed, well paced, and, most importantly, very funny. I think Larry David wrote up the perfect finale: tying up the loose ends, putting into perspective exactly how crude and disrespectful the four were. Ultimately, I believe the HIGH expectations and overhype precipitated many disappointed viewers. I tried to go in there thinking that it would be just another Seinfeld, only the last one, and I saw a really enjoyable episode. To those of you who didn't like it, I suggest another viewing or two. Now that you know what happens, the episode might grow on you. Admittedly, the beginning is a bit slow (but still amusing) , however, once they get to the scene in Monk's it begins flying high! The courtroom fiasco that ensues is pure genius. And the ending...just felt right.

     I liked it, too.  It seemed as if, after all the talk about Seinfeld
     being counter to the traditional sitcom format, Jerry and Larry gave
     a nod to situation comedy with the airplane/landing/arrest scenario
     -- but then they turned it inside out, with the gang still driven
     more by their neuroses and self-absorption than by anything going on
     around them.  The last scene in the jail cell was a fine way to end:
     a discussion of George's shirt buttons, and Kramer so very pleased
     to have eliminated the water blockage from his ear.

The thing about the finale that confused me is that most of the situations were originally misunderstandings (like Kramer the pimp when he was just wearing a goofy outfit), or really minor things that didn't really matter (like Jerry's problem w/ returning Tropic of Cancer/Capricorn (can't remember the title).
