Favorite conversation about nothing

Seinfeld is often referred to as the show about nothing. This isn't really true. In the beginning there was a lot more nothingness. But especially in the later years the show usually has several very intricate plot lines going on at the same time. However in between these plot developments are the little gold nuggets of conversations about nothing. One of my favorites was on "The Pony Remark" where Kramer was going to convert his apartment into levels.

I think even this self-description of being about nothing was ironic. It's all the trivialities that go into making up a life. And the show always makes some sort of comment about deeper issues. You think cutting up your candy with a fork is trivial? Suddenly it's about how easily everyone is influenced by a trend that started with the bizarre Mr Pitts. And more......

My favorite is George and Susan, in the coffeeshop, George realizing they have nothing to talk about, and fuming because he has to be with her instead of his pals.

(long pause) "I broke a shoelace today."

(Susan goes on to chatter about shoelaces for 30 seconds.)

My girlfriend and I say this to each other constantly, whenever we're bored with and/or a little sick of each other.
