Does anyone another sitcom (or possibly a movie) where a character went into a confessional and SAT on the kneeler? I know i've seen someone else do that, but I can't remember who. Can anyone help?
Oh, by the way, i've never seen anyone KNOCK before! I thought that was hilarious!
Thats because he not CATHOLIC... for non Catholic's most confessionals have a little light above the door that goes on when someone inside kneels.
Well I KNOW THAT! I was just remarking that i've seen someone sit on the kneeler, but I've never seen anyone knock.

confession at our church was only done at certain times, like thursday afternoons from three til five. or in our case they'd have confession for the students and haul the whole school down there, grade by grade, about once a month.
if the booth is empty you go in and kneel down. the priest slides the covering open when he is ready.
one difference from my experience and the confession scene on the show, you can't see the priest and the priest can't see you. it s supposed to be sort of anonymous. but you need to take liberties for a TV show i guess.
i haven't gone to confession since eighth grade. i'm 37 now. sure hope i don't get run over by a truck! whew, i'd be in trouble then!

Confessions are sometimes face-to-face. It depends on the church. The confessional, you are right, usually darkens the priest-confessioner faces.
