Thanks for posting the ratings, I get a kick of reading that. NBC rules anyway. I love my Thursday night lineup. I have a housemate who hates T.V. and never, ever watches it and I sit my "A*** in front of it Thursday night and laugh like a fool in my room. He probably thinks I am so common and redneck or whatever these people who say, "I never watch T.V.", hey wasn't that a line in "Pulp Fiction" and the come back was, "you do know about television and the little people that come on and the little shows they have on each day, don't you?"
Well it was something like that. Does anyone know that quote from the Pulp?

Canadians just love to complain about the US and how they're going to take us over, etc. etc. etc. but the fact is that we have very few decent Canadian shows to watch. I'd rather eat tar than watch another "spunky Canadian girl/boy in prairie/maritime town comes of age, and learns to accept what is dealt him/her" show. Canadian TV is so damn earnest that in order to escape, we watch mindless, but visually appealing, dreck. Also, perhaps our minds are so melted from years of "Beachcombers" and "Road to Avonlea" that many people are unable to comprehend the slightly more complex dialogue a "Seinfeld" inflicts. I know it's not that we're dumb.
problem is that all the good Canadian comedians got into the movies
during the last 15 years , especially if they had a stint in the lower
48's SCTV imitator "Saturday Night Live". It seems to me that Camadians
DOMINTED movie comedy in the 80's.
BTW, if a big US studio like Columbia or Paramount made a movie in
Vancouver starring Andrea Martin, Rick Moranis, Dan Ackroyd, Dave Thomas,
and Jim Carrey, would it be an American movie or a Canadian movie?

In Canada, ratings are done by Network numbers (eg. shows on the CBC and CTV are always in the top 10)
A show like Seinfeld is shown on multiple regional networks.
In S. Ontario very few popular U.S. shows are on Canada's 2 regional networks.
Most of the NBC lineup are shown on Global, which i believe is only an Ontario network.
