Tonight they ran a montage of material from various shows. The one where George gave Jerry's ph.# to the Unemployment Office as Vandelay Industries. So, when the phone rings and Kramer picks it up and tells the party on the other end that they have not reached Vandelay Industries. George, screaming from the bathroom, comes running out, pants down, and falls down. I thought that George always took his shirt off when using the bathroom(for #2 I suppose), it "frees him up". What's the deal, why did he have his shirt on. I know he didn't take the time to put his shirt on and not his pants. No wonder the show failed, with such enormous plot gaffs like this.

Yeah buddy, the show was a horrendous failure. I mean you hit it right on the button. With all those inconsistencies it was the primary downfall to one of the most watched sitcoms in television history. I mean I turned off the television right off every time I saw George walk into Jerry's apartment when he wasn't buzzed in and he somehow magically got in the building.

I remember another inconsistency, but I'm working off momory here. In teh episode where Elaine and Jerry get in the fight (where they're pointing at each others faces), Kramer comes in to break them up. In one shor, the door is wide open and unmoving. In another a second or two later, it is closed.

If you were to watch the real episode there was a true inconsistency in the placing of the newspaper when George fell down. In one shot the paper is to his left - then another shot it mysteriously shows up on his right.
Failed?...nine years - 180 episodes - number one sitcom - $400,000,000 value - hardly a failure.
it's not necessarily an inconsistency. Perhaps he was just STARTING in the bathroom, and had taken down his pants, but had not yet gotten his shirt off.

Isn't there a possibility that George came up with this habit somewhere between the two episodes (The Boyfriend and The Gymnast)? After all they're three years apart, and that's a long time, especially on television...
