Fans discuss what mutton is after it's mentioned twice on the show, learning it's meat from older sheep.

Mutton has been mentioned twice on the show as far as I know. Elaine's cousin served it to Jerry and Elaine and the Farmer served it to Newman after Kramer kicked him out of the mail truck.

What is mutton? I know it is some kind of meat but what is it?

to be more specific, I believe mutton is meet from a sheep that is between 1 and 2 yrs old I think, under 1 yr is lamb. YMMV

Check a dictionary. It is the meat of mature sheep. A goat and a sheep are totally different. Mutton is to beef as lamb is to veal. Can this thread die now?

Mutton is the meat of a full grown sheep, as opposed to lamb, which is a young sheep.

Th dictionary I have defines it as "the flesh of a full-grown sheep." Meat from a goat is usually referred to as goat and lamb as lamb.
