Inconsistency on 2/17

On tonight's syndicated episode, Jerry decides he can't take the great apartment George (during his days as a real estate agent) showed him near Central Park. At the housewarming party, the eventual tenant (Karen, the Monk's waitress) introduces Jerry/George/Elaine to her husband Larry. Larry does not know who they are until Karen identifies them as the people who turned down the apartment. Since George was the listing agent, wouldn't Larry have known him from being shown the apartment and signing the lease??
