It lowered my estimation of Seinfeld to see that they would switch actors for such a crucial role from one episode to the next. This is worthy of some daytime soap, but not "the hippest show on TV".

Remember, this week they showed the *very first ever* episode. Phil Bruns, formerly Mary Hartman's father, played Dad. I believe, sometime between then and now, he died. That's likely why they switched to Barney Martin.
