Could someone please explain the "Foundation" to us. We know that Susan died after licking tainted wedding invitations. Did she leave George in charge of a fortune? What is his role in the foundation? Apparently, he does not get any money himself, so why does he bother with things like handing out scholarships? Also, where did Susan get all this money? Thanks for any info. beforehand.

Why does the head of the foundation say to the scholar that Susan would be proud of him, like she was some great genius of our time. She was just a cranky, levelheaded women that died due to some unforeseen incident and her parents just happen to have a lot of money. Now she's got a foundation, a scholar to live on in her name, and many, many other things. You'd think Reagan died. Live on...spend your money on hired help, Mr. and Mrs. Ross...

After Susan died, her parents set up a foundation in her name and honor. A charitable foundation is an organization that essentially is in the business of handing out grants, aka donations, to other nonprofits and individuals--like the Ford Foundation, the Rockefeller Foundation, or the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation; these are just three of the largest in the US. Most large foundations have a board of directors who decide which nonprofit should receive a grant. George sits on this board, so he's obliged to do stuff such as determining scholarship recipients.
By the way, the boardroom of Susan's foundation looks like the boardrooms of many other foundations: dark wood wall paneling, leather wing-backed chairs, long oak table, and the portrait. Whoever does the set design got it right on!
And now Elaine has a Foundation! J Peterman created the Susie (or is it Suzy?) Foundation just last night. I can't WAIT to see where this goes!!

I'm sure they did it on purpose. That was one of the funniest things about Elaine's foundation. I guess anyone named Susan/Susie is just bad luck for the Seinfeld gang, especially if they're dead.
