Fans discuss Elaine's good character traits, noting her considerate behavior like not blocking movie theater views, being kind to animals, and not staring at people with disabilities.
There has been some discussion about Elaine, i.e., she's an evil and unkind person, etc.
Last night's (1/29) syndication episode reminded me of a few reasons that Elaine is NOT evil!
1. She doesn't poof her hair up when she goes to the movies so people behind her can see
2. When squirrels bother her she firmly tells them to go away, unlike other people who try to hurt them
3. I forget the third example she gave. But, she likes Tom Hanks. And she should get points for that, right? :D
She doesn't stare at the freaks, yet she doesn't look away either. She wants the freaks to feel comfortable.
I think Elaine is a great humanitarian. She should be given a medal. Susan, on the other hand, should be locked up for trying to kill the poor Bubble Boy.
The Nice thing about Elaine is that she can dish it out... but she can also take it (Like when the Rabbi blabs all, she seems to resignatedly accept this). J. Carlson

I used to think Elaine was a nice person. But after I saw 'The Cadillac" episode, I realize that she has golddigging proclivities. I couldn't believe she wants to be Jerry's girlfriend again just because she discovered he can afford to buy his parents a new caddy. Shame on Elaine!!!

Did you stop watching Seinfeld for about two years and then just start again? Elaine's actions in the Rabbi Episode, the episode with the Poolguy, the Season Opener, and the Sponge show she is not nice. In fact, these are just the examples that come to mind right now, she as been mean or cruel in virtually every episode for a long time. I'm glad your opinion has changed but she has not been 'nice' for some time.

I agree, Elaine is an obnoxious twit. On the other hand, just like everyone on Seinfeld, she usually gets he comeuppance.

In "The Statue", Kramer gets a box full of free stuff from Jerry. All George wants is a statue that would mean a great deal to him and his parents. Kramer should have gladly given George the statue, but instead left George to twist in the wind by allowing the ownership of the statue to be decided by a stupid game of chance. That was very creepy of Kramer. In a recent episode, Kramer enforces Elaines promise to give her bicycle to whomever would fix her neck. Although she made the comment without contractual intent, Kramer held her to her word and persuaded Elaine to part with ownership of the bicycle. He insisted upon this even though it was a girl's bike. To make matters even worse, Kramer sells the bike to Newman without even giving Elaine an opportunity to meet Kramer's offer to sell. Kramer seems very greedy to me. I'm disappointed in the K-Man!
I didn't catch the rerun, but I believe it had something to do with not staring at freaks, yet not looking away from them so they don't feel self-conscious. Great insights into her character!

While these examples are certainly valid and show she is not the epitome of darkness and wickedness, the fact of the matter remains Elaine is one of the most arrogant, cruel, and unpleasant personalities on television. If you doubt my words, and a lot of you do, then please rewatch the episode with the Couch, the Rabbi episode, the episode with Ramone the Poolguy, the episode with the Sponges, the episode where Elaine was bitten by the dog, or any episode from this or last season. She has become a total jerk and treats the other three 'main' characters like dirt. It is hard to see how so many people can regard her as a decent character.

Let me say that the fact is I do have a sense of humor (thats why of the four shows I watch on television, three are comedies) but I don't find jerks funny. Elaine is a jerk (I'd use a stronger word but I don't curse) and thus, she's not funny.

Elaine is a shallow, selfish, superficial person as demonstrated in episode after episode. She surpasses Jerry and yes, even George in these qualities.
Hey no one surpasses my man George in being shallow, superficial and selfish. George exceeds all in those categories, if he didn't he wouldn't be my hero.
