Larry Sanders ending = class

Now that the smoke has cleared and we can all see the light don't any of you feel a little manipulated by the end of Seinfeld fiasco? May I turn your attention to THE best show on television the last 6 years: The Larry Sanders Show. Now granted the show never had the wide spread audience that Seinfeld had but in six years the show never declined into self parody as the last two seasons of Seinfeld clearly did.

This Sunday, the final show will be broadcast. The plot is no mystery. No one is being manipulated so they can find out what happens. Shandling isn't dressing up like a fantasy character on Rolling Stone. In other words a little restraint and class is being displayed. While I loved Seinfeld the lead characters in Larry Sanders: Larry, Hank and Artie are just as funny as Seinfeld Kramer and George. I think the bitter pill Seinfeld made me swallow will be washed down with a dose of class on Sunday.

Yes the Larry Sanders show is funny but the last two seasons of Seinfeld are much much better than all of the Larry Sanders show. So Gary and the writters doesn't care if people no the plot: so what? I liked it. and IMHO it was a better finale.

I've noticed that with all the talk about the Seinfeld, Ellen, & Larry Sanders finales, and all the comparisions to past series finales. No one has discussed The Cosby Show finale. That was the #1 show for many years and I remember seeing their last show, and I really can't remember a big media spotlight on it. Even the papers and magazines I've read never mentioned it with Mary-Tyler Moore, MASH, or Cheers. ...................................... Well, they did make a big deal about it. However, you have to remember that the Cosby finale didn't get the ratings that the others did, and so it would be more natural for peopl to remember Cheers than Cosby. You also have to remember that the year after Cosby went off the air, Cheers went off the air, and Cosby got overshadowed as a result.

Maybe because Cosby's new series is so much like his old one, it seems as if the old one never went off!

There is a good reason for that. The Cosby finale was aired in the midst of the LA riots that followed the acquittal of a few cops in the video taped beating of Rodney King. An upbeat show about an upscale black family airing its finale during one of the worst racially motivated riots in American history had an unintended irony. Besides that, the "news" media were obviously very distracted by the riots. Oh, also, the popularity of Cosby had seriously waned by the time it left the air.

While, in my oppinion "The Larry Sanders Show" is on a par with the best episodes of Seinfeld, each and every "Larry Sanders" episode is of the highest possible quality. And that extends to each and every season.

Unfortunatelly, I cannot say the same about the last 2 seasons of Seinfeld. There were a few good episodes, though.

BTW, Jerry Seinfeld will appear on the finale of "The Larry Saders Show."

He also appeared on a "Larry Sanders" episodes a few seasons ago. The episode's name was "The Grand Opening." In it Hank has a nervous breakdown. First he has an unpleasant exchange with Jerry, later he dissapears. They find him the next morning on the set for "Seinfeld" sleaping on the couch in Jerry's appartment. Jerry says to Larry: "I am going to send you a cleaning bill for the drool."

Also Jason Alexander, Michael Richards, Julia Louis-Dreifus, and Jerry Stiller were guests on "The Larry Sanders Show." Anybody else from Seinfeld I am missing?
