Um...that's not a fair figure to use if you want to compare it to the other great finales (read: M*A*S*H), b/c out of home viewing wasn't available for M*A*S*H to the degree it was for Seinie.

Uh, you're right. It's not fair at all. Given the proliferation of cable TV, the Seinfeld finale had WAY more competition than the MASH finale.
